KUCHING: The recent remark by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng that Sarawak would go bankrupt in three years under the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has continued to draw flak from many quarters.

Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) president Bobby William said after reading the remark by Lim, many would assume that based on logical mathematical calculations, there was some facts to what Lim said, which he based his calculations on what the Sarawak government had declared previously about utilising state reserves, said to be RM30 billion.

Bobby questioned whether Lim’s statement was a political propaganda by DAP to leverage and gain support from Sarawakians or just blatant political mileage for Pakatan Harapan (PH) as a whole.

In the political context, he said there was no denying that both parties were trying to gain political mileage.

He said for the past 55 years or so, Sarawakians had been fighting for various developments and improvements, adding that GPS had been taking various initiatives to fulfil promises ever since May 2018.

Sarawak, he added, seemed to be caught in the middle of these political struggles to this very day.

“Probably it is the first for every Malaysian to adapt, as it is the first in history that a government had successfully changed hands.

“But with new federal governance, it also doesn’t benefit Sarawak in its fight to regain its autonomous rights at all.

“Sarawak is still held ransom and neo-colonised by political influences and interests instead,” he elaborated.

He said it was no secret that a political tug-of-war was underway between PH and GPS for political survival.

Henceforth, he said even local political parties like PBDS with STAR, PBK, SWP etc had rose up together as a neutral voice for Sarawakians to voice out the Sarawak agenda.

“Our side, as a Dayak party, we voice out the Dayak people’s agenda in conjunction with the Sarawakian agenda as a whole.

“Based on what’s being mentioned in the grapevine, it is clear that the wellbeing of Sarawakians are not the main concern of PH.

“It seems very obvious that the main goal for PH is a complete takeover of Sarawak governance or GPS to maintain power of its governance, come next state election,” Bobby said.

Sarawakians, he said, would have to find any means to ensure justice, equality and fairness even if it meant that Sarawak would have to exit Malaysia because of this one day.

He added that any country would go bankrupt if the leaders were corrupted.
