MUKAH: Two cobblers currently using a narrow walkway at a dry market here as a work space will soon have a proper one.

This is obviously good news for the duo, who have been sharing the walkway with passers-by for as long as they can remember.

On Wednesday, Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo went on a walkabout at the former bus station in the old town here to see the possibility of upgrading the area.

Yussibnosh, in an online report yesterday from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), said the area would be upgraded to include a proper place for the cobblers for carry out their business activities.

He said the upgrading project would commence soon and financed through the minor rural project fund.

“As soon as the plan is ready, the project will commence and, Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) will implement the project,” he was quoted as saying.

Currently, the former bus station is used as a taxi and car park and occasionally used as trading site for selling durians and other jungle produce.
