KUCHING: The Property Axis application — a real estate marketplace that provides real estate suggestions based on big data analytics using open and crowdsourced data — is now accessible in Sarawak.

According to Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, as the state is currently moving toward economic digitisation, applications like these would help Sarawak reach its goal of becoming a developed state with an economy thriving on data and innovation by 2030.

“The impact of digitisation on the economy is really significant, because the capability to develop applications like the one that Karuna Sarawak is collaborating on with Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) is a step in the right direction.

“This endeavour will assist Sarawak advance forward in the economy’s digitisation as well as contribute to building additional apps in the future in order to achieve the vision of Sarawak becoming a developed region by 2030,” he explained.

Julaihai went on to say that digitisation is important because developing apps like those created by SAINS and Karuna will be advantageous in the long run because they will be able to support the ministry’s efforts to create more apps in the future to address problems and provide solutions for Sarawak.

Meanwhile, according to a press statement, the initiative, which started in 2021, is a partnership between SAINS and Karuna Sarawak to create a one-stop platform to make it easier to rent, buy, and sell properties in the region of Sarawak and, eventually, throughout Malaysia.

This one-stop platform is expected to not only make the process easier for people looking to buy a home but also to offer personal and business support to real estate developers, sellers of homes, and real estate agencies.

It is also anticipated to significantly expand the Sarawak real estate market and elevate the region in comparison to other parts of Malaysia.
