Drain remained unmaintained at the Kota Sentosa Commercial Centre.

KUCHING: Kota Sentosa Commercial Centre property owners have voiced out their disappointment over the lack of maintenance in the area.

Among some of the issues brought up by included missing drain covers, broken street lights, and the lack of proper maintenance of the commercial centre in which its maintenance has been stipulated under the maintenance agreement.

They even wrote to the authorities but no action was taken, therefore a perturbed property owner brought the matter up to the Sarawak Community Policing Association (SCPA).

SCPA in a statement yesterday said, it was reported to the association that it has been two years and Kota Sentosa Commercial Centre occupants are still waiting for immediate attention by the relevant authorities to have proper maintenance of the commercial centre.

“The property owners have been paying maintenance fees every month and assessment rates every year, without adding values of benefiting from the centre’s maintenance,” it said.

SCPA also said it is worrying that when a place is not maintained, it can attract criminal activities.

“This has been confirmed by research based on the ‘broken window’ theory.  It was also confirmed by a property owner that a saloon’s air conditioner was stolen recently,” it said.

It then added that the property owners hope that the relevant authorities can take swift action on the issue.
