KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) is seeking to reclaim Mambong constituency in the coming state election.

The seat slipped away from the party’s grip when incumbent and then PSB deputy president Datuk Dr Jerip Susil left the party last July.

“It’s not to say that Mambong belongs to PSB but it was our seat before when it was won by Dr Jerip (in the last state election). Naturally, we want to reclaim it,” said PSB president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.

He was fielding questions from reporters after launching PSB Mambong branch service centre at M10 Commercial Centre Jalan Kuching-Serian yesterday.

Wong reiterated that PSB was on its own and independent. “We can go anywhere we want to, we will contest as many seats as possible.

“We will fight against anybody, be it GPS or Pakatan Harapan, even if Dr Jerip defends his constituency, we will fight him,” he pointed out.

On whether PSB has identified potential candidates for the coming state election, Wong said, “We find it hard to select the potential and winnable candidates because too many professionals have come to join us.

“They are heads of departments, Residents, district officers, officers from Shell and Petronas and everywhere.

“But anyway, we will perform due process and assessments and slowly we will select the most winnable candidates.”
