KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) has reaffirmed that it will contest in the Mambong constituency in the coming state election. Its Youth chief Johnical Rayong Nyipa said the party has identified a qualified individual to be the potential and deemed winnable candidate to contest the seat currently held by Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, the party’s former deputy president, who quit the party in July and has become a member of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

“Yes, definitely the party will contest in Mambong and we have identified a potential candidate, who is well qualified and meets the party’s criteria. A local and a familiar face among the community in the area,” he said to a group of reporters after officiating at an anti-drug talk and exhibition at SMK Green Road yesterday.

The Engkilili assemblyman pointed out that the potential candidate has been involved in politics and is a familiar face with the people in the area, but not in the political circle.

Meanwhile, Rayong also said the party would be contesting as many seats as possible and that the party was also in the midst of identifying winnable seats and candidates for the coming state election.

Rayong cited the party’s president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh who said that the party would contest between 60 and 70 seats with high percentage of winning, as the people from Lawas to Lundu have expressed that they want a change in the state administration.

He added that the party has received overwhelming response from the people.
