KUCHING: The Malaysian Sepaktakraw Association (PSM) has expressed its full support for the International Sepaktakraw Federation (Istaf) in efforts to bring the sport to the Olympic Games.
PSM president Datuk Seri Ahmad Ismail said the latest development which saw the sport being promoted on the Olympic Channel, was a great step forward.

“PSM hopes to see sepak takraw become one of the games contested at the Olympics, and we will work closely with Istaf to make this a success. For a start, we need to get sepak takraw listed in the upcoming Commonwealth Games, so it can be the best platform for the next step of getting it into the Olympics,” he told Bernama.

Sepak takraw was included in the SEA Games in 1965, and the Asian Games in 1990.  Bernama had previously reported that the chances of sepak takraw to be listed in the Olympics looked brighter when the Olympic Channel gave the green light to promote the sport. – Bernama
