MARUDI: The Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel were called to action after the public raised concerns over water level rising in the district.

APM Marudi received a call from the public on Saturday (May 4), at 8.10 am regarding water levels rising at Jalan Raya Sungai Arang and Jalan Raya Sungai Dabai.

The public called on the APM personnel after heavy downpour in the area from 4.40 pm until 11.10 pm on Friday (May 3).

After travelling 17 kilometres, the team of five personnel inspected and monitored water conditions in both areas.

“The roads are clear of water and the water levels have receded at Jalan Raya Sungai Dabai.

“However, water continues to be stagnant at the side of the road,” APM Marudi reported in a statement.

No temporary relief centres were opened and water levels in Sungai Baram are currently low.

After monitoring and ensuring the area was safe, APM Marudi ended its operation at 10.17 am today.
