Public invited to Arts Festival at Boulevard Pujut

MIRI: As part of the on-going Arts Festival at Boulevard Shopping Mall, Miri, newly-formed Persatuan Pelukis dan Seni Visual Miri (Association of Artists and Visual Arts Miri – PPSVM) is holding its first arts exhibition until Sunday.

Its president Noel Belulok said nine members of the association are exhibiting 40 pieces of paintings mostly on local attractions, and ranging from human figures to nature.

“Most of the paintings highlight the local beauties, one of our efforts to help promote the rich cultural heritage, beautiful sceneries so as to create greater awareness and appreciation among the locals and international communities,” said Noel said yesterday.

He added the exhibition also showcases paintings using different mediums – batik, acrylic, water colour, oil painting, bitumen, airbrush and tree bark.

“Through this exhibition we hope to inspire more artists and budding artists, especially among students, how to nurture interest in arts both as a hobby and profession,” he said.

The exhibition is being held at Level 3, Exhibition Hall of the shopping complex and is open for public viewing from 10am to 10pm daily.

Meanwhile, several other activities will also be held during the Arts Festival, which is being organised in collaboration with the shopping mall and other establishments.

Activities to be held today (March 29) are upcycle talk at 11am, DIY Nespresso Insect at 2pm and Polygon Sculpture for Beginners at 5pm.

On Saturday there will be workshops on paper design and décor at 11am, DIY family handmade soap for children aged five years and above at 3pm.

On Sunday children aged 4 to 12 years are encouraged to sign up for free trial class on craft activities starting at 1pm.
