MIRI: Public places, including houses of worship, will be sanitised and cleaned as well so that the public can rest assured that their wellbeing is being taken care of, with the help of Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting said Miri Bomba had started sanitising these places around Miri, so that they would be ready for public use after the movement control order (MCO) ended.

Ting, along with Miri Bomba Zon 6 personnel and chief Supt Low Poh Kiong were at St Dominic and the Rosary Catholic Church, Taman Tunku for sanitisation work yesterday.

“The capacity of the church is 3,000 pax ― and it is a huge number for a public place, so it needs to be sanitised and cleaned well. We will also go to surau, mosques and temples,” he told reporters.

Ting also thanked the frontliners, including firefighters responsible for the sanitisation work.

“I would also like to advise the public to practise high standard of hygiene, and remember to play their important role to stop the circuit of the Covid-19 pandemic and to stay home during this crucial period to flatten the curve so that the country will be able to tackle and handle the pandemic,” he said.

Low said Bomba would ensure the entire areas of Miri would be sanitised, including requested areas, for the safety and comfort of the public.

“We are always ready and this will be a continuous effort from us, including sanitising buses or vans that carry a number of passengers.”

Low also hoped the public would not spread fake news and create panic.
