State Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar M M Sree said those who are heading back to their hometown for the holidays should be extra careful because of the increased amount of traffic on the road.

“Those who are leaving their houses unattended should inform their local police departments for safety precautions,” he said.

Dev said among the ways of informing the police for safeguard are via the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) mobile application; by filling out a form and informing police officers on duty at their local police departments; or by calling the police department to request for security assistance.

“Once notified, the designated police officers will patrol the areas around their residence from time to time in order to ensure the safety of the unattended houses.
