KUCHING: The Sarawak Social Welfare Department’s (JKMS) Micro Entrepreneur Bersatu Berhad Cooperative (Kousmik) complex at Metrocity, Matang was officially launched by the Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah yesterday.

According to Fatimah, the complex would provide a platform for the welfare clients who are trained under the Welfare Micro Entrepreneur (UMK) programme to market their products and services.

“This cooperative, which was set up in 2018, aims to promote the entrepreneurs’ products under the Wellbest (Welfare at its Best) brand to the locals and outside of Sarawak.

“With the launching of the RM4.8 million cooperative complex, it will definitely bring a positive impact to our micro entrepreneurs,” she said during the launching of the Sarawak Wellbest Carnival 2019 at Metrocity, Matang, yesterday.

She hoped members of the public would come forward and support by buying products produced by the micro-entrepreneurs.

“Come and support them because this will help increase their household income and take them out of poverty,” she stressed.

Through the cooperative, Wellbest Kitchen, which sells local food and beverages, has been set up, Fatimah added.

“In addition, the cooperative also have a Wellbest Excellent Centre (WEC) which provides spaces for various activities and programmes such as courses, trainings and meetings,” she said.
