MIRI: A home in Pujut 7A here was broken into early Tuesday morning while a family of three slept inside. Fortunately, the family was unharmed and a police report was lodged later that morning at Miri Central Police Station (CPS).

It was believed that the intrusion occurred between 4 and 5am. Among items reported missing were the victim’s wallet, house keys, two units of handphones and several bank cards. According to the 23 year-old victim who works as a cook, he and wife with their child were sleeping inside a room when the incident happened.

“When I woke up this morning around 7am, I saw the front door was ajar and there were some signs of forced entry, I immediately checked on a the living room area where I had left my wallet and the house keys which were all gone,” the victim said on Tuesday when making his report.

The victim at first thought the burglar(s) also took away his car because the key was missing too. Fortunately, they (the burglar(s) did not take it away as the key was found inserted to the starter inside the car.

Preliminary check at the house made by Pujut Residents (RC Pujut) patrolling team who dashed to the scene upon receiving a distressed call from the victim that morning, two bamboo sticks were found at nearby the house fence (front side). The team also found pliers, suspected to be used in the burglary.
