KUCHING: The Sarawak State Library (Pustaka) and all its campuses will be closed to the public on Thursday (May 13) in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

In a statement, Pustaka said its operations would resume as usual starting Friday (May 14), from 10am to 5pm.

“The management of Pustaka also takes this opportunity to wish ‘Selamat Menyambut Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin’,” it added.

At the same time, Pustaka urged members of the public to utilise its free services such as the Pustaka Sarawak Channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/PustakaSarawak/.

This is a platform for the broadcasting of Pustaka programmes and activities online via YouTube, in line with the new norm service transformation.

The initiative aims to continue programmes and activities which encourage reading during the Covid-19 pandemic through Pustaka’s YouTube channel as well as to optimise the potential of information and communication technology to benefit more people.

“We also offer the Bookbear Service through the Angka.sa2 application for free. BookBear is a direct-to-home book borrowing service. Users can download the Angka.sa2 application through the Google Play Store or App Store,” they said.

It said this service started operating since Jun 13 last year. It operates from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

“This initiative is aimed at ensuring that users have access to Pustaka’s collection, seeing that Pustaka has not yet fully opened its existing premises,” it added.

Members of the public are encouraged to follow the latest developments from Pustaka from time to time through its social media and website.
