SIBU:  Pustaka Sibu is the State Library newest branch. It will be declared open by Chairman of Sarawak State Pustaka Management Board Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hamid Bugo here this Monday (Sept 14).

At the event Hamid will hand over the key. He will also officiate at the accreditation of Sarawak State Pustaka Services, here.

According to a statement Pustaka Sibu is Pustaka newest branch in the central region.  It is catalyst in helping the government reduce the digital divide and information as well as knowledge gap among the less fortunate.

“With the approval of the state government, Pustaka has been entrusted to build Pustaka Sibu as a portal for the central region covering parts in Sibu, Mukah, Kapit and Sarikei.  Pustaka Sibu  is expected to be able to function as a digital information services portal for the central region of Sarawak.

“Therefore, we would like to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude to the State Government for providing trust and strong support to the Sarawak Pustaka,” said Pustaka in the statement.

“Therefore, it is hoped the people of Sibu will take this opportunity to visit the Pustaka Sibu to enjoy the various facilities and reference materials available and specially provided for the public.

“Let us all expand our energy to ensure abundant knowledge and that we are cared for.  This is also a way to preserve our common identity,” said Pustaka in the statement.
