Pustaka organises virtual talks series with Unimas

KUCHING: The Sarawak State Library (Pustaka Sarawak) will be conducting a series of talks entitled ‘Siri Ceramah Sarawakiana’ next week.

The series of each talk will be available on Pustaka Sarawak’s official social media pages namely Facebook and YouTube.

Dr Suhaila Saee from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) will be conducting a talk on Feb 18 at 1pm.

Through her talk entitled ‘Knowledge Sharing on E-Sarawak Gazetteer Project: Collaboration Initiative by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak and Unimas’’, she will be sharing the Sarawak Gazette electronic services to the public.

“The talk will provide details on the project which is an initiative to improve the electronic services for Sarawak Gazette which was developed by KIK White Hornbill and Pustaka Sarawak back in 2013.

“The objective of the talk is to introduce the E-Sarawak Gazette to the public and to promote the cultural diversity and access available in Sarawak,” it said.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin Muhammed from the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, Unimas will conduct a talk entitled ‘Reka Bentuk dan Seni Ukiran Parang Tradisi di Sarawak’  (Design and Art of Traditional Parang Carving in Sarawak) on Feb 20 at 10am.

The talk is one of the efforts to enhance the public’s knowledge on the preservation of culture and heritage in Sarawak particularly on the parang (machete).
