MIRI: Pustaka Miri will be organising its second blood donation drive on this May 14.

According to its yesterday’s statement, the campaign is organised in collaboration with Sarawak Teachers’ Union (STU) Miri Division and Miri Hospital’s Blood Bank. It will be held at the library’s foyer from 9am to 12.30pm.

“Organising a blood donation campaign is a noble practice that can foster social responsibility by encouraging people to donate blood. It also aims to raise awareness of the importance of donating blood to help save lives as well as instil the spirit of volunteerism,” said the library’s Corporate Management officer Shirley Szebah Mambai.

Snacks and gifts will be given to successful blood donors as an appreciation for their generosity.

Various exciting activities will be held in conjunction with the campaign which include exhibitions, quizzes, a Pustaka membership registration counter and sales of Pustaka books at discounted prices.

Each Pustaka member who registers on that day will receive an attractive welcoming gift.

“Therefore, do not miss this golden opportunity to participate in the activities held throughout the programme. Do bring along friends and family members to enliven the atmosphere of this campaign,” she added.

The first drive this year on March 5 saw 43 donors coming and a total of 38 pints of blood were collected.

The scheduled dates for the two upcoming quarterly blood donation drives are on August 20 and November 12.
