Reactions To Lim Guan Eng’s Demand For RM350 Mln Advance
KUCHING: The Federation of Boards of Management for Aided Chinese Primary Schools of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions hopes the issue of repairing dilapidated schools in the state can be settled as soon as possible.
Its president Jonathan Chai said the dilapidated schools were putting students at risk.
“Someone just has to take the initiative to kick off the project for the benefit of our students and teachers,” he said following Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s call to the state government to cough up RM350 million first and only then would the federal government channel the same amount for the repairs.
He said it would be a sad episode if the repairs of the schools were delayed because of the squabble over funding or mode of payment.
“We do not want to see the issue being politicised at the expense of public interest,” he stressed.
Chai appealed to the federal and state governments to address the issue and settle the problem quickly in the spirit of goodwill for the sake of the rakyat.
