BINTULU: A fire destroyed four workers’ quarters at Jalan Dam Asyakirin yesterday (May 29) afternoon.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident that occurred at 2 pm.
Three tenants managed to evacuate safely, but the exact number of tenants is yet to be confirmed.
According to a spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department (MFRD), firemen from Bintulu station quickly responded to the scene, located approximately 30km away.
Upon arrival, it was evident that the quarters could not be saved. The firemen extinguished the flames.
By 2.35 pm, the fire was brought under control and completely extinguished by 3.05 pm.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the losses are still under investigation.
