Quick action by firemen saves fertiliser store from burning

SARIKEI: Quick action by firemen managed to save a fertilizer store at Jalan Nenas here from being burned down on Saturday (May 15).

Sarikei fire chief Mahmudin Narudin said his men were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 1.55am.

“Upon arriving, the firemen forced their way inside the premises to put out the flames.

“Fortunately, the fire only burned a small portion of the fertiliser and the premises’ structure was not affected,” he said.

There were no casualties and the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.
