
MUKAH: The quick actions of the residents of the Rumah Panjang Juki, Batu 15, Jalan Selangau, Mukah had successfully extinguished the fire caused by electrical equipment.
According to the statement by the State Fire and Rescue Department, the heroes used four units of fire extinguishers to put out the fire that happened at door 10 out of 40 doors.
The quick actions of Nicholas Juan, 27; Macgyver Sujang David, 28; Josh Jamba, 39; and Jennifer Riam, 38 had saved 265 of the longhouse’s residents from being homeless.
It stated that a flashlight that was left unattended while charging had caused the fire to break out. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the house’s structure.
The team from the Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 11:57am today after receiving a distress call at 11:08am.
“As a report and investigation is made, there were no injuries reported caused by the fire,” it said.
