KUCHING: Malaysians residing in Sarawak are invited to participate in the 2020 state-level rabies awareness short video competition organised by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee.

Lucrative prizes are up for grabs in this contest with first prize winner receiving

RM5,000 cash plus certificate while second to fourth places will take home cash prizes of RM3,000, RM2,000 and RM1,000 with certificates respectively.

Participation is on an individual basis where each participant can submit more than one entry based on one of these genres – drama, sketch, comedy and documentary.

Participants only need to provide a two to three-minute video based on the theme “Be Aware of Rabies” which covers at least three of the five scopes of the rabies campaign such as signs and symptoms, measures to overcome rabies (during and after the bite), vaccination programmes, advice and hope as well as dangers of rabies.

Apart from that, participants are required to submit a complete entry along with the relevant forms to videorabies@gmail.com not later than September 11 at 5pm.

The winner’s video will be announced and screened during World Rabies Day which is expected to be held on September 28 in Kuching.

In this regard, participants can use resources from the Ministry of Health website (www.infosihat.gov.my and www.myhealth.gov.my) as well as the Department of Veterinary Services website (http://www.dvs.sarawak.gov.my).

Entry forms are available at all Information Department branches throughout the state.
