Raghad hands over 112 computers to three children’s homes

KUCHING: Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, wife of Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abdul Taib Mahmud, yesterday handed over 112 tablet computers, two desktop computers, and one printer to three children’s homes.

In a ceremony held at The Salvation Army Kuching Children’s Home, she handed over 42 units of tablet computers to The Salvation Army Kuching Children’s Home, 30 units to The Salvation Army Boys Home, and 40 units of tablet computers along with two units of desktop computers and printers to the Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Kuching Children’s Home.

All the devices were donations from 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta and Kuching Love Book Association.

Raghad also gave a personal donation of 300 boxes of face masks to the homes.

The organisation, 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta is a new body in Kuching founded by three businessmen, namely, Datuk Seri Ho Kim Hee, Datuk Seri Chan Leng Sam and Datuk Seri Voon Thien Loong.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the foundation has assisted those in need by donating food, medical equipment, school supplies, computers, clothing, toys, and other items to schools, children’s homes, people’s homes, the elderly, and other charity organisations.

Also present during the ceremony were the wife of Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud; Kuching South Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng; founders of 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta Datuk Sri Ho Kim Hee, Datuk Sri Chan Leng Sam and Datuk Seri Voon Thien Loong; chairman of Love Book Association May Loo; principal of Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Kuching Children’s Home Mohamad Iskandar Mohammed Tudin; and an officer in charge of Salvation Army Homes Captain Raymond Rubi Aloba.
