SIBU: Some 50 individuals here received donations in conjunction with the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.
The wife of the Head of State, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, presented the donations to the recipients during the Majlis Jalinan Kasih Tahun Baru Cina at Foochow Sibu Association, today (Jan 25).
The recipients received assistance in the form of cash and basic necessities.
Among the recipients were senior citizens living alone, single senior citizens who are self-employed, the disabled, recipients who have many family members in their household, single mothers, and those under the B40 category.
Also present were Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Well-being Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah and Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.
For the record, the programme was initiated by Raghad herself, who is actively involved in channelling donations to the needy.
