The seized drugs

MIRI: Various types of drugs weighing about 3kg and contraband beer were confiscated from an entertainment outlet at Centre Point Commercial Centre here on Friday night.

In the 11pm raid, a team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) also apprehended two individuals to assist in investigations.

One of the suspects detained is the premises’ manager, aged 30 and his female staff aged 35.

The drugs were found inside a drawer during a search carried out at the outlet.

Initially, the suspect had refused to cooperate with the police to unlock the drawer. This forced the police to crack open the drawer.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the value of seizures for the drugs and the contraband beer was being determined.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 135(1)(D) of the Customs Act 1967.
