KUCHING : Four suspects were arrested and an assortment of cigarettes with two vehicles with a total worth of RM445,016 were seized by the Marine police at about 7.45am on Wednesday.

Acting Marine Police commanding officer Supt Abdul Rahman Mat Hasan said a Marine police team raided a house at Jalan Arang and found four workers inside.

After checking, the team seized two vehicles, a lorry worth RM80,000 and an MPV worth RM90,000.

Rahman said 458,360 cartons of cigarettes of various brands worth RM275,016 were also seized.

The seized items were brought back to the Marine police headquarters and the case will be referred to the Royal Customs Department.

The four are expected to be charged under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act, 1967.

Rahman also urged the public to work with the police to eradicate smuggling activities.
