KUCHING: The persistent downpour failed to dampen the fervour of the enthusiastic crowd during the Christmas parade in Kota Sentosa last night where eight festively adorned cars paraded through the lively streets, spreading joy and merriment.
 
The procession followed a picturesque route from Dewan Perniagaan Mile 7, winding through Old Airport Road, the ‘Kem Rejimen Askar Melayu Kuching, Kuching Air Force Base, Pelita Restaurant, and the bustling Pasar Batu Tujuh, before concluding at Dewan Perniagaan Mile 7.

Attended by 1,000 Christian devotees from 14 churches in and around Kota Sentosa, Kuching, and Kota Samarahan, the parade was a testament to the unity and festive spirit of the local community.
 
Among the churches that participated were the New Life Restoration Church and Grace Assembly Church.
 
Organised by the Sarawak Evangelical Christian Association (SECA), the event conveyed messages of peace, harmony, and love among all.
 
SECA chairman Pastor Greman Ujang thanked Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai for their pivotal roles in making the parade a success.
 
In his opening remarks, Greman emphasised the significance of spreading messages of love and unity during the occasion.

The programme unfolded with the singing of Christmas carols, followed by prayers delivered in Malay, English, Chinese and Iban, symbolising Sarawak’s rich cultural diversity.
 
The Christmas parade at Kota Sentosa not only celebrated the joy of the season but also highlighted the community’s commitment to goodwill and understanding among its diverse members.
 
Through colourful displays and heartfelt expressions of faith, the event left an indelible mark, setting the stage for future festive celebrations in this vibrant corner of Sarawak.
