MIRI: The Magistrates’ Court here has ordered two men accused of rape to be further remanded for four days.

The accused aged 48 and 34 appeared before Judge Zuraini Ali Musa yesterday.

Investigating officer Insp Clarissa Carol initially applied for a seven-day remand to secure the clothing worn by the accused and to conduct a proper medical check-up on the victim.

During yesterday’s proceeding, one of the accused also told the court that he was suffering from gout and needed his medication.

Judge Zuraini ordered that the accused be given his medication.

The men were arrested on March 29 following a report lodged by a 17-year-old divorcee over the alleged rape.

The alleged raped occurred on March 5 at a longhouse in Sungai Teniku, Jalan Miri-Bintulu.

The offence is framed under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
