DALAT: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council permanent chairman Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar shared a few tips on election preparation with Dalat branch party members here yesterday.

He said party machinery should go out to the ground and explain properly to the people and voters regarding certain matters or issues.

“This is what we call ‘reach out and win over’,” he said when officiating at the closing of Sarawak Kita Empun (We Own Sarawak) in conjunction with PBB N56 Retreat at Stadium Perpaduan Dalat here.

According to him, another important thing the party machinery should pay attention to was to ensure that the message was properly explained to the people.

Asfia, who is also State Legislative Assembly Speaker, said the political scenario now is different from a few years ago.

He added voters now look at the candidate, meaning if the person is in the constituency before, during and after election.

He said this is because there had been cases where a candidate was present during election time only, just to obtain some votes, and after election that person disappeared.

The event also witnessed a briefing session on land issues by Mukah Division Land and Survey Department superintendent Monaliza Ismail, while the Chief Minister’s Department Public Communication Unit (Ukas) special administrative officer Datu Takun Sunggah briefed the attendees on law and regulation during election.

Political secretary to the chief minister Petrus Mathias Igat talked on Micro Strategy in Voting.

PBB Women chief cum Welfare and Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Tellian assemblyman and political secretaries to the chief minister Abu Seman Jahwie and Faridah Osman also attended the event.
