KUCHING: The implementation of Info on Wheels (IOW) in conjunction with the month of Ramadan, as well as the release of the ‘Greetings From Sarawak’ (KDS) video series, is an initiative by the State Information Department (Japen) as the state — and nation — enters the fourth phase of the movement control order (MCO).

“We (Japen) aim to reach out to the grassroots level to raise awareness on the MCO and prevent Covid-19 outbreaks in both rural and urban areas.

“At the same time, Japen also released a ‘Greetings From Sarawak’ video series, which focuses on various programmes we have organised throughout the state,” it said in a press statement, yesterday.

The first series of ‘Greetings From Sarawak’ video has reached over 1,600 views since its release on April 23 and can be viewed via Japen Sarawak’s Facebook page and on Youtube.

Through its Facebook page, users can find information on government policies, especially on the development of the Covid-19 outbreak and the current implementation of the MCO.

Among the IOW initiatives to be held during the month of Ramadan include ‘Tazkirah On Wheels’; a religious informative programme featuring speakers broadcast by its mobile unit and on social media.

Japen will also hold ‘Ramadan Lambuk On Wheels’ which involves the distribution of porridge by the Japen mobile unit team as one of the ways to embrace the concept of charity during Ramadan.

Besides that, ‘Takbir Raya On Wheels’ is also planned to be held on the last night of Ramadan and on the first day of Hari Raya.
