KUCHING: Get ready for China’s CanSino single-dose Covid-19 vaccine.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said after Thursday (July 22), the Pfizer vaccine will be given to those receiving the first dose of the vaccine.

He said those getting their first dose will later be administered with the CanSino vaccine when it is made available in the country.

“For those going for their second shot, you will receive either Sinovac, AstraZeneca or Pfizer,” he said in a Facebook post today (July 20).

As announced by National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Sinovac will complete the 12 million vaccine supply for PICK by month end.

“Thank you very much for the close collaboration and partnership between PICK by Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) and Ministry of Health (MoH) with the Sarawak government, as well as all the federal and state agencies, including the people of Sarawak in rolling out Covid-19 vaccines for Sarawak.

“This is truly our spirit of solidarity and united efforts against Covid-19,” he said.

Dr Sim added that as of July 19, a total of 1,579,474 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine.

“This is equal to 72 percent of the eligible adult population who have received their first vaccine shot,” he said, adding that 932,931 or 45.7 percent of the eligible adult population have received both doses of the vaccines.

“Indeed an amazing and extraordinary teamwork, and achievement from all since last month,” he said.

Of the total cumulative vaccine doses administered in the state, 16,128 individuals received their first jab as of yesterday, while another 38,558 completed their second dose.

Meantime, Dr Sim said another weekly batch of the Sinovac vaccine arrived at Kuching International Airport (KIA) this morning.
