KUCHING: Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) has engaged with Curtin University Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu Campus in an information sharing session on developing potential collaborations with industrial partners to serve regional communities in Sarawak.

“Socio-economic development in the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) can be fostered by equipping workers with relevant technical knowledge,” added Khairina, who also heads Recoda’s investment management team.

Meanwhile, Curtin Malaysia pro vice-chancellor, president, and chief executive Prof. Simon Leunig said the university does carry out collaborations with industries, professional bodies in various ways, offering students exposure to industrial practices and to encourage industrial research.

He added that the university is open to discussions with interested parties on possible collaborations, which may include research and development, consultancy, facilities sharing, interns or graduates recruitment and community services.

UiTM deputy rector (Research And Industrial Linkages) Associate Prof. Dr Abang Zainoren Abang Abdurahman and UPM Bintulu Campus director Assoc. Prof. Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini also said their respective universities are open to collaborations, dependent on industry needs.

In addition to implementing infrastructure and socio-economic projects, Recoda assists existing investors in terms of manpower supply and jobs training.
