KUCHING:  Sarawak’s record revenue of RM11.9 billion for 2022 – the highest ever – surpassing the projected revenue of RM10.2 billion by 17 per cent, is good news for the state and brings cheer to the people

Political observer Datuk Peter Minos said the achievement showcases Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s good governance and prudent management.

“Raising revenue is not easy, it requires a lot of thinking and planning. The Premier’s financial engineering is just superb and Sarawakians are pleased with this,” he told New Sarawak Tribune today (Feb 3).

Minos hoped the achievement would set a benchmark for Sarawak in the years to come, saying more revenue meant more money for development projects.

“I remember four years ago when the Premier mentioned that Sarawak would soon chalk up an annual revenue of RM10 billion, and this has materialised and is better than expected,” he added.

The state’s revenue came from four main categories – taxes, non-tax income, federal grants and reimbursements, and non-revenue receipts.
