Red Bridge to get LED shine

BINTANGOR: Red Bridge here which will soon be illuminated with colourful LED lights will be the district’s new landmark.

Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the Sarawak government has approved the application for this project at a cost of RM100,000 under the supervision of the Meradong and Julau District Council (MDMJ).

“This project will commence on Aug 15 and the implementation period is three months.

“I call on the appointed contractor to complete the project within the timeframe, at least by October before the start of the Bintangor Festival,” he said after visiting the bridge recently.

He also advised all road users who use Jalan Bintangor-Sarikei to be careful and cooperate to facilitate the installation of the LED lights.

In another development, he also witnessed the handover of two Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects which will be fully implemented under the supervision of the Public Works Department (PWD) in Sarikei.

The two projects are changing electricity cables and repairing the drains of Rh Giman, Skim B Meradong involving RM82,000 and changing the electricity cables of Rh Augustine, Tanah Putih involving RM90,000.

He reminded the implementing agency to act firmly to monitor the work carried out by the contractor and ensure it runs smoothly.
