KUCHING: Employers have been told to take advantage of the Sarawak Labour Recalibration Programme (RTK) 2.0 to register undocumented foreign workers (PATI) in the state.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala said RTK 2.0  has been extended in Sarawak in line with a decision taken at federal level on foreign worker management.

Under the programme  the registration period for PATI by employers is extended until June 30, the verification period is extended until September 30; and the Visit Pass Temporary Employment issuance period is extended until December 31, he said in a press statement issued by his office on Sunday.

Therefore, Gerawat said employers should take advantage of the implementation of RTK 2.0  to ensure the hiring of foreign workers is legal and orderly and to avoid enforcement actions taken by the government.

“However, applications are subject to the eligibility criteria set in this programme.

“Thus, all employers and relevant PATIs are requested to participate in this RTK 2.0 by dealing directly with the Immigration Department and the Labour Department in Sarawak,” said Gerawat.
