KUCHING: Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang gave RM5,000 to the Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (Rela) Landeh branch for helping to build a new house for the needy in Bau.

Lo said he is thankful to the Rela members for their kindness and initiatives in making time from their busy schedule to help the less fortunate.

“Not only did Rela put in the energy and effort, they also went to look for sponsors to contribute to building materials,” he said when visiting the project site yesterday.

The building of the new house was done on a gotong-royong basis by the Rela members.

It will be a relief for Ishak Amit from Kampung Lidah Tanah once the new house is completed.

Yesterday, Lo visited the project site and handed over the cheque to Rela Landeh branch led by Philip Kon under his Minor Rural Project — Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Rakyat Miskin Sarawak (MRP-PPRMS) fund.
