TRISO: There is a proposal to place at least two People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel at each ferry point on shifts to ensure that the public adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) when taking the ferry.

Triso village chief Awang Mos Sulaiman said as a result of the discussion with the Maludam Sub-District Office and the ferry operator, the instruction on entering and leaving the ferry would be enforced more strictly. “Among them is that passengers are not allowed to be in the vehicles while entering or leaving the ferry.

“In addition, the vehicle windows should be wind down. All ferry users must comply with this with immediate effect,” he said.

“To ensure these instructions are followed, we recommend two Rela personnel to monitor the vehicles,” he said.

Awang Mos stressed that the cooperation of all ferry users was very much needed to prevent any untoward incidents from happening.

He also expressed his concern that some drivers drove too fast when approaching the ferry ramp.

“I wonder why they are driving so fast? Therefore, I suggest the government build at least two speed bumps at a distance of 100 and 200 metres before reaching the ferry so that drivers can slow down,” he said.
