KUCHING:  Some 350 villagers from Kampung Long Busang, which was submerged by floodwaters following continuous downpour during the recent Aidilfitri, have received relief aid from Sarawak Energy.

The aid comprises rice and other daily necessities.

A team of Sarawak Energy employees led by its community relations manager Augustine Supen Taja, recently travelled eight hours by longboats upstream the Balui River from Bakun jetty to deliver the relief assistance.

While at the village, the Sarawak Energy team also visited SK Long Busang and donated some school supplies.

In addition, the team also gave contributions to Long Busang’s development and security committee (JKKK) to assist in restoration works in the aftermath of the flood.

SEB’s general manager for CSR Jiwari Abdullah said, “We hope that the assistance we provided will give some respite given the impact of the flood on the community. We share the concerns of many for the safety of the villagers at Long Busang and we are glad that there was no casualties among the villagers.”
