KOTA SAMARAHAN: A religious teacher was arrested on Wednesday in Asajaya here on suspicion of molesting his nine-year-old student.
Samarahan OCPD DSP Sudirman Kram said the 70-year-old suspect was arrested at his home after a police report was lodged by the victim’s mother.
He said the incident came to light after the victim complained to her mother about pain in her private parts.
“Preliminary investigation found that the incident took place at the suspect’s house where the victim was studying, and it is believed that the victim was molested several times.
“Medical examination found no trace of penetration, the only evidence of friction was on the outside of the victim’s private parts,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the suspect was being detained at the district lock-up and is currently remanded for five days pending investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017.
