THE Sarawak government has been urged to relocate a pig farm, proposed to be built at Lot 19, Samarahan, to Tanah Putih, Serian. Datuk Idris Buang (GPS-Muara Tuang) at the DUN sitting yesterday stated that he was made to understand that a pig farm was going to be built at Lot 19, Samarahan.

“However, I beg the state government to relocate it to Tanah Putih in Serian, which has already been gazetted for pig farming purposes.

“If the pig farm is established at Lot 19, it would pose a lot of problems for the local community, not only the Javanese or the Malays, but also the Chinese, Iban and Bidayuh community there,” he explained.

Idris added that he had received no fewer than 30 complaints from the people in the area on the matter, to which he hoped the state government would take into account the people’s concern thus, relocate the proposed pig farm.
