KUCHING: Just ignore what DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng said about Sarawak government spending in its 2019 budget and treat it as a political tactic of DAP.

Political observer Datuk Peter Minos in rebutting Lim’s claim, said the 2019 Sarawak Budget is a surplus budget and no money from the State’s reserve is used.

Lim, who is federal Finance Minister has warned Sarawakians that the state might end up bankrupt in three years’ time under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) administration.

Lim had said Sarawak’s RM30 billion reserves would run out in three years with its annual budget of RM11billion.

Minos noted that funds for the state’s budget are raised from various domestic sources.

“These are facts. We know it and heard it from our chief minister. Guan Eng deliberately and purposely told a totally different story.

“He knows the facts on Sarawak budget. He is not and cannot be that stupid and ignorant. It is typical of DAP. They deliberately twist things and the facts to hit opponents.

“This is a very dirty political tactic, intended to hurt and to plant seeds of mistrust, doubts and suspicion among the people,” said Minos, who is Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman.

Minos said it was better and wiser for Lim to just shut up if he did not know the facts.

“He should instead concentrate on doing something to reduce the high and rising cost of living which hurt all Malaysians, especially the low income groups.

“He is after all the Minister of Finance. He cannot play politics all the time. He must do his job,” added Minos.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had announced last year the state’s revenue for 2019 was expected to reach RM10.51 billion, which included sales tax for petroleum products totaling RM3.84 billion.
