LONG NAHA’A: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leadership has been urged to renominate Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau to defend the seat in the upcoming state election.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu said the incumbent had served the constituents well.
“The area of Telang Usan and the distance that needs to be travelled to get here is a big challenge for any elected representative but Dennis diligently visits the villages in his area almost everyday.
“We must unite to give a bigger victory to Dennis and for him to win with a larger majority, and we pray he becomes a minister,” Rentap said during a PBB roadshow in the Kayan settlement of Long Naha’a, Ulu Baram recently.
The Layar assemblyman urged folks here to not fall for the tricks of the opposition and they needed to safeguard their interests by supporting Dennis.
“…especially the youths, you need to be better developed so that you can move forward with the community in the city.”
Some 250 participants attended the programme that involved youths from Uma Bawang, Daleh Long Pelutan, Long Pilah, Long Nakan, Long Keseh, Long Suling, Long Liam Keliman, Long Bemang and Long Latie.
Also held was a dialogue discussing various topics by Dennis, Rentap and PBB Youth deputy chief Miro Simuh.
Miro reminded Ulu Baram folks that development programmes planned and implemented by GPS in Telang Usan would be disrupted if they chose the wrong representative.
At the same event, Long Naha’a village head Albert Wan Ding presented several requests, among them, a suspension bridge across the Baram River, clean water supply, and a public toilet.
