BELADIN: Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor has denied allegations that there was political interference in the enforcement of the recovery movement control order (RMCO) in Kampung Beladin.

According to Razaili, there was no interference from politicians, in fact, he as the people’s representative had hoped that the RMCO’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) be enforced more strictly.

“The implementation of RMCO in any locality (whether small or large area) is using the same SOPs.

“However, RMCOs in longhouses and small villages are different compared to open areas as both are enclosed areas and relatively easy to control.

“On the other hand, open areas like Beladin are quite difficult to control as it has a lot of rat lanes that make it easy for residents to violate SOPs,” he explained.

He was responding to a post which went viral on the Facebook account of Orang Kampung Pusa on Wednesday which claimed that the enforcement of RMCO in Beladin was very lax.

Commenting on the increase in positive cases in Beladin, Razaili stressed it was due to ineffective control due to lack of staff.

“We have informed this matter to the Betong Division Disaster Management Committee, especially the police.

“At the same time, I call on the villagers in Beladin to be more responsible in complying with the SOPs so that we can break the chain of Covid-19 transmission immediately,” he pointed out.

The Beting Maro assemblyman handed over food assistance to the residents who were instructed to undergo quarantine as well as donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and drinking water to the health workers at the Beladin Health Clinic.
