Rep doles out MRP grants to school’s PTA

PADAWAN: Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant amounting to RM80,000 has been approved for the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SK Saint Bernard Sadir here.

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil announced the grant during the PTA’s ‘Ngarom Bipajak’ event at the school hall last Friday night.

At the event, Dr Jerip, who is also Mambong assemblyman disbursed MRP funds totalling RM100,000 to the Associations of Head Teachers in the Mambong constituency.

He said the allocation was intended for educational development activities and a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) carnival in the area.

He also explained on the Sarawak government’s initiatives to strengthen the state’s education sector.

“These include providing free laptops, RM500 vouchers for Sarawakian students pursuing higher education, and efforts to offer free education at government-owned universities in Sarawak,” he said.
