SIMUNJAN: Minor rural project (MRP) and projek mesra rakyat (PMR) grants totalling RM539,000 were disbursed to 140 recipients comprising Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), Mosque and Surau committees, Church management committees and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Batang Sadong parliamentary constituency.

Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the allocations were her commitment to the people in the constituency covering Sadong Jaya, Simunjan and Gedong.

“This grant was handed over to carry out religious and community activities that will have a high impact on the sustainability of community development in this area.

“It is hoped that the funds provided can be utilised as much as possible with the implementation of planned activities by each recipient group to serve the needs of the community,” she said at the presentation ceremony at Rumah Rehat Sri Sadong, Simunjan on Saturday (Oct 2).

The Batang Sadong MP advised community leaders to implement activities that could help the residents to develop themselves and provide economic opportunities, especially for the youths.

“We must always be proactive in thinking about the interests of the people in our area. So, when it comes to planning activities, make sure it really makes a high impact on the participants and that it will bring them to the next level.”

At the event, she also presented donations to orphans, single mothers, the disabled and widows as well as donations of Al-Quran, scarves and telekung to eligible recipients.
