Rep doles out RM60,000 in MRP grants

Date:

KUCHING: A total of RM60,000 in minor rural project (MRP) grants were distributed to two associations in Belaga on Saturday (July 10).

Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon said RM50,000 were presented to the Apau Koyan Belaga Community Trust Board while the Belaga District Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) received RM10,000.

Earlier, he visited the Sungai Asap multipurpose hall vaccination centre (PPV) to monitor the vaccine rollout to the residents.

“I was briefed by Sg Asap medical officer Dr Yap Hung Wei who supervises the vaccination programme and its progress.

“The vaccine rollout is conducted at the PPV while at the same time, mobile vaccination teams are being deployed to villages in Sungai Asap.

“They are also planning to deploy mobile vaccination teams to Urun, Ulu Sungai Linau and other areas,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (July 11).

In a separate programme, Chukpai also visited the distribution of food basket programme under the federal government’s Pemulih package for the Hulu Rajang parliamentary constituency.

“I am informed that this Pemulih food basket assistance programme has been successfully implemented in Murum.

“On behalf of the people in Murum, I would like to thank Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong for his concern to channel the food aid.

“This will certainly alleviate the burden of the people affected by the movement control order (MCO) in the government’s efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

The assemblyman also thanked the frontliners and volunteers for their roles in ensuring the success of the vaccine rollout programme as well as distributing food baskets to the villagers.

“Together we pray that God will always give strength and good health to our frontliners and volunteers so that they can continue to carry out their duties,” he said.
