KUCHING: The fire victims in Kampung Telaga Air heaved a sigh of relief after receiving much needed assistance from their assemblyman.
Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi visited the victims on Friday to present cash aid and basic necessities.
“Short-term assistance is to help victims find temporary housing as well as assistance for schooling. In the long run, we will help to get housing assistance from the government,” the Pantai Damai assemblyman said.
The fire left four families from two houses homeless after their homes were destroyed. Fortunately, no injuries were recorded.
In the meantime, the families are housed at the Telaga Air Women’s Economic Centre and in a homestay.
Also present were Penghulu Murshidi Johari and Telaga Air village head Zaini Tanggek.
