Rep hands over funds to various houses of worship

SARIKEI: Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii handed over funds to various houses of worship here on Wednesday (July 21).

He presented a sum of RM300,000 to Fu Gui Ting Temple. The temple also received RM300,000 from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) last year.

Huang also presented RM100,000 to Yien Sung Methodist Church. The church also received RM100,000 from Unifor last year.

Meanwhile Kwang Eng Methodist Church received RM90,000. It also received RM50,000 from Unifor last year.

Huang also visited several roads which would be upgraded here under a plantation infrastructure project. The roads included Jalan Minah (400m), Jalan Kwong Ming/Minah (600m), Sg Garan (400m) and Jalan Hock Ming (500m).

The budget was requested by the assemblyman from the Department of Agriculture and approved for Sarikei Division.

The upgrading of the roads will make it easier for workers to transfer produce from the plantations.

Huang, represented by Kapitan Ling Dien Yong, also contributed food aid to 35 residents of Rumah Doris, which was placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) for 17 days from July 20 to August 5.
