SIMANGGANG: Assistant Minister of Community Wellbeing Datuk Francis Harden Hollis has come to the aid of a grieving family to help bring back their son’s body from Johor Bahru for burial in Sri Aman.

Maxwel Leo Ronny, aged 19 years and six months, from Kampung STC Jalan Rambutan in Sri Aman, passed away in Johor Bahru on Apr 6 after a short illness. He was there looking for work to support his family.

News of Maxwel’s passing reached Harden, who is also Simanggang assemblyman, when a non-governmental organisation Terabai Menua applied for financial assistance to cover the cost of transporting the deceased body from Johor Bahru.

Upon discovering the difficulties faced by the family, Harden voluntarily visited Maxwel’s family home at Kampung STC Jalan Rambutan here and met with the family on Friday (Apr 9).

Harden’s kindness and empathy has greatly helped the bereaved family in bringing the teenager’s body home for burial. The body was expected to arrive today (Apr 10) for burial at Kampung Sabu cemetery.

“As the people’s representative, I would like to thank Terabai Menua and individuals involved in their noble efforts to help the people of Sarawak by easing the burden and facilitating the affairs of the family of the deceased,” said Harden.

He expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased. He also advised them to comply with the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) when paying their last respects.
