BALINGIAN: Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi hopes to see this sub-district elevated to a full-fledged district by 2026.
“If I am given the opportunity to represent Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the coming 12th state election, I hope to see Balingian developed and progress and could be upgraded to become a full-fledged district by 2026,” he said.
He this when officiating at a community extension outreach programme at Kampung Kuala Balingian here yesterday.
Abdul Yakub won comfortably in the 11th state election in 2016. Yussibnosh Balo was the former Balingian assemblyman.
In the 2016 state election, Balingian was redelineated and a new constituency, Tellian, was created.
Yussibnosh represented Tellian in the 2016 state election and he also won comfortably.
